Religious consecration as Perfectae Caritatis 2 talks about it.
At the first place there is certainly the work of God. But the activity of a person who gives themselves wholly to God sticks out in a special way. Thus somehow they consecrate themselves to God. Therefore a religious consecration is a special, personal act under the influence of grace. It contains the following elements:
God’s calling – a special election by God, which enables understanding of God’s calling. Not everyone can understand it. (Mt 19, 12)
Person’s response – giving oneself, consecrating oneself. Thus a charismatic element (unlike sacramental).
Vows acceptance by the Church
Whoever undertakes vows for the greater glory of our Lord Jesus Christ, for a more complete service and undivided love, they will enter in a new way into the mystery of the Church and will intimately participate in the redemptive work of Christ.
